Inflammation of the prostate is the most common disease in men over 40 and is only rarely surpassed by heart disease.When a person is diagnosed, the question naturally arises: where exactly does this disease come from?
The causes of prostatitis in men are numerous;It is almost impossible to name exactly what influenced the development of pathology in a particular patient.However, some factors, such as poor lifestyle and alcohol abuse, significantly increase the risk of developing the disease.
Another feature of the disease is the impact of these causes.Some of them can cause pathology immediately, while others affect the man's body for years and detect the first stage of prostatitis only after 40-45 years.
In general, all causes of prostatitis are divided depending on the form of the disease.And it can be bacterial or abacterial (regardless of the presence of infection).
Causes of nonbacterial prostatitis
It is not only the development of infections that leads to the appearance of the disease.The onset of pathology can also be triggered by:
- incorrect structure of the prostate gland, which leads to compression of the prostate gland;
- Deterioration of general blood circulation in the pelvic organs;
- reduced testosterone levels;
- constant perineal injuries and too intense physical activity, leading to muscle tension;
- unstable sex life and interrupted sexual intercourse;
- too much sexual activity, causing the body not to recover as it should;
- Consumption of cigarettes, alcohol and drugs, which will certainly lead to a deterioration in potency;
- too little daily activity, leading to congestion and constipation;
- regular hypothermia, stress and nervous tension.
Clinical tests confirm that prostatitis is often caused by poor diet, poor quality of food, high content of food additives and flavor enhancers.
Bacterial prostatitis: causes of pathology
The causes of a bacterial nature include several factors in the development of the disease:
- too weak immunity, which can be a consequence of an incorrect lifestyle;
- Genitourinary diseases of an infectious nature (bacteria enter the prostate from the bladder);
- STDs.Most often characteristic of young people who do not use barrier contraception;
- intestinal diseases.It is very easy for microorganisms to get from the intestines into the prostate and “past” it.
With increasing age, the causes become more numerous and the body's defenses weaken, so the disease most often develops after 40 to 45 years.
The main symptoms of prostatitis in men
There are 3 stages of prostatitis, the first symptoms become noticeable in the initial stage of the disease, and in the second they can no longer be ignored:
- the process of urination is disturbed, it becomes more frequent, the pressure decreases and dribbling syndrome is observed;
- There are sharp pains in the perineum, scrotum and lower abdomen.
- Sexual dysfunction develops and discomfort occurs during ejaculation.
Acute prostatitis, requiring an immediate response, is characterized by slightly different symptoms:
- an increase in temperature is possible due to a strong development of inflammatory processes and fever and chills appear in parallel;
- The pain radiates to the head, muscles, joints and even the lower back;
- there is burning, swelling and increased temperature in the perineal area;
- the perineum is painful or uncomfortable to touch;
- When urinating, a burning sensation occurs, pain appears, the urine darkens, blood is even visible in it;
- If you don't want to go to the toilet, urine may leak from the urethra.
Similar symptoms, but of lesser severity, are characteristic of chronic prostatitis.A regular medical examination is necessary after 40 years, since there is also an asymptomatic form of pathology.
How to treat prostatitis of various forms?
There are a variety of methods for treating prostatitis, and not all of them require serious surgical intervention.The earlier the disease is detected, the more gently it is treated.
Drug therapy
To treat prostatitis, antibiotics (bacterial form) are used, as well as alpha-blockers, natural substances that strengthen immunity and eliminate inflammation.Drugs that restore blood circulation are also used.There are many drugs, so there will always be those that are suitable for the individual characteristics of a particular man's body.You cannot choose medications yourself in a pharmacy;You should always rely on a doctor's prescription.
Surgical intervention
Radical treatment methods are used extremely rarely and are more often aimed at eliminating acute prostatitis or an advanced form of the disease:
- transurethral resection – a special instrument is inserted into the urinary canal, which removes part of the prostate gland and eliminates pressure on the urethra.It takes place without any intervention in the abdominal cavity;
- Prostatectomy is an operation through the abdominal cavity with the aim of removing a severely enlarged prostate.
Non-surgical methods
Prostatitis can be treated with other methods.Not all of them are pleasant, but the rehabilitation period afterwards lasts only a few days, a maximum of 2-3 weeks, and the risk of complications is minimized:
- thermal methods – elimination through high temperatures;
- ultrasound treatment;
- Cryodestruction – removal with liquid nitrogen;
- Laser therapy – splitting tumors with a laser;
- magnetic methods with laser amplification – the use of a magnet and a laser to improve blood circulation and quickly restore damaged tissue;
- Balloon urethral dilation – a catheter with a balloon at the end is inserted into the urethra.
Prostate massage, herbal medicine, reflexology and other methods are also used for treatment.There are even such unusual methods of influence as eliminating the disease with live bees and leeches.And they can be very effective!
